LINE ILLUMINATION / COLUMNAR ILLUMINATION /
CROSS-SECTION CONVERTERS
Increasingly, illumination is being demanded which provides a homogeneous and high intensity light line for image processing using line-scan cameras. In the field of fiber optics, this demand is met by cross-section converters or line illumination (also known as line lights) which achieve an optimal adjustment to the required illumination task.
Special applications employing fiber lines over: 10, 34, 36, 50, 70, 110, 125, 136, 260, 360, 500mm

e light input depends on the light source.
The brightness and uniformity of the surface illumination requires a larger bundle diameter.
The surface area of the fiber line resulting from
length x width determines the surface area of the round cross-section at the light input.
The line width determines the attainable brightness.
When selecting the line length,
the numeric aperture of the fiber being used
and the drop in brightness at the line ends must be kept in mind.
The brightness drop at the line ends
is also influenced by the aperture of the receiver optics and the working distance.
Cylindrical lenses on the fiber line focus the light one-dimensionally
and create narrow illumination bands (= line illumination).
Working distances range from a few millimeters up to more than one meter.
The light lines are available in acrylic, glass and quartz.
We recommend the use of acrylic fibers for applications in the white light range.
